Workshops
Pilatesengel regularly invites experienced teachers to share their perspectives and areas of expertise in dedicated workshops.
These workshops offer the opportunity to explore specific topics in depth, gain new insights, and further develop your own practice—within a focused and personal learning environment.
At the core is a well-founded, movement science–informed approach to teaching. At the same time, learning should be inspiring, enjoyable, and shaped through exchange with others.
Workshops With Shari Berkowitz
11–13 September 2026
Shari Berkowitz, founder of The Vertical Workshop, will be joining us—an exceptional opportunity to learn from one of the most influential teachers in the international Pilates community.
Over the course of the weekend, she will offer a series of workshops with different thematic focuses, each designed to explore specific aspects of the Pilates method in a practical and in-depth way. Her teaching combines a deep understanding of the classical exercises with a clear, functional, and biomechanically grounded approach.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to book semi-private (max. 4 participants), duets, or private sessions with her.

Stretching: Increasing Range of Motion and Releasing Tight Muscles: What Works, What’s Safe
Has stretching helped you either increase your range of motion or release tension in tight muscles? They say it will and should, but it hasn’t. Why not? Is it that you’re not doing it enough? No. That’s not it at all. You’re doing what you’ve been told, but it doesn’t work. Let’s get to what does work!
In this workshop, we’ll discuss what stretching really is, what really increases range of motion and relieves muscular tension and why what you’ve been doing doesn’t work. AND… then we’ll work on what DOES work! We’ll apply this to Pilates, but, of course, this is applicable to all modalities.
Archival Mat and Standing Exercises
There are many more versions of Mr. Pilates’ exercises than we see today. Variations, modifications, combinations of multiple exercises in one! Fascinating, challenging and all the rest! These versions should not just live in the memories of those of us who had access to them years ago. They ought to be living, breathing exercises for those who need the modification or challenge. Experience this material, then teach it so we never lose track of these great exercises!
Proprioception and Interoception: How Can I Tell What I’m Doing?
Where are you in space? How do you know without looking in the mirror or needing hands-on? How do your clients know? In The Vertical Workshop, our method works to develop both your sense of your body in space and what’s going on on the inside. When we develop this—and help our clients develop it—great changes can occur! Physical goals can be achieved! It is a vital aspect of muscle learning and real change that goes beyond the session or class.
Why isn’t it taught more? Why don’t Pilates teachers recognize the value of it? It’s time you developed this and taught it! Teaching is so much easier and more rewarding when we use all of the tools available to us. This one is a bit of a mind-blower!
Variations to the MAX!!!!
Oh, sure… there are Advanced, Super Advanced, STAR exercises… but what about the amazing variations on all of the Intermediate and Advanced exercises that you and your clients can work on to play, deepen and make the most of a long life of Pilates? That’s what this workshop is all about.
These are all classical variations with a few Shari Berkowitz Specials! Nearly every exercise has a way to advance without even having to learn a new exercise! How many ways can you do The Long Stretch? Sooo many! What about Chest Expansion on the Reformer? Many ways! Do you know the variations on The Hundred?! Oh… The Hundred has, well, probably 100 different ways to do it. Or maybe 10 that really rock! Let’s play!
